Speakers

Alex Falconer, Head of IT Security, CYBG

Alex joined the Group in April 1989 and has spent his career in the Bank working in many areas of IT over the past 27 years. Alex was appointed to his current role as Head of Information Security in January 2014. Since then, he initiated a major overhaul of the Information Security function to ensure the Bank's systems and defence capabilities were aligned to protect the Bank against the fast moving external environment. Prior to this role, Alex held senior roles as part of the Service Delivery function; including Head of Operational Services where he was responsible for the day to day running of the IT Service to all of the National Australia Group Europe banks as well as some of the National Australia Bank (NAB) services. Alex's time in the front line of IT Service Delivery has given him a unique insight into how the Bank runs and the complexities of running Banking platforms. Thereafter, Alex was Head of Technical Services where he was responsible for the management and planning of all of the IT infrastructure for the Bank. This included management of some of the Bank's major IT suppliers e.g. IBM, HP, Oracle, Microsoft and Dell. During this time, Alex has held influential roles in most of the Banks' major change programmes such as the de-merger from NAB and the IPO of CYBG.

Key areas of expertise: Information Technology (Infrastructure, Service & Security), Strategy, Transformation and Change, Separation and Integration.
